Tweet Adventure 09/19/2011

To view each panel bigger style, Click it!

This was an experiment where I took a day's worth of my live tweeting/Facebook Statuses and turned them into a small comic, complete with the "Likes" and comments I received from my friends thru-out the day.
I hope it's not offensive to the participants, if it is let me know and I'll take you off the comic.
That day I had an interview for a job at Trader Joe's in Silverlake where my gf Ava works. I ended up not getting the job, but I did get offered a job soon afterwards as well as this neat little comic outta the experience!
Feel free to add me on Facebook or follow me on Twitter!
Thanks for reading!

Cowabung-oonies!

Hey you GUYS!!!
I'm in 2 new tribute art group shows, courtesy of the fantastical Autumn Society!

AWESOME Poster collab by Chogrin/Edwin Vazquez/Bobby O'herlihy/Glen Brogan

1st up is my Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle piece for Brave New Worlds in Philly.

The title of my piece is Chris' Raph, and it is a tribute to my elementary/high school friend Chris Ellis, who recently passed away.

In 5th Grade, my pals & I: Chris, Ryan Hill, Ron Puga, Frank Stevens, Brian Reyes would pretend to be the Turtles and various other characters from the comics & cartoon and create our own ninjatastic scenarios out on the school yard. I was Leonardo, Ryan was Michelangelo, Ron was Donatello, and Chris was Raphael, or Raph as we called him. I'm not 100% sure, but I vaguely remember Frank as Master Splinter & Brian as Shredder.

The piece kind of came out sorta zen for me to do, and I'd like to think Chris was right there watching me draw as he did when we were kids. He was a spectacular artist too, as were/are the rest of my pals then & now. I remember Ryan & I coming up w/ a beastie boys-like rap about the TMNT too.

Ah, youth.

Here's to you Chris! I miss you buddy.

Second up, is my sorta nsfw piece for the Ultra RAD, Goontastic Goonies themed show in Astoria, Oregon (where Goonies was actually filmed!) at Lunar Boy Gallery!

Bad Ass poster by ?

My piece is appropriately (or un-appropriately) titled, "My Mom's Most Favorite Piece!"

It's my teeny (heh) tribute to the part in Goonies when Chunk accidentally breaks off a piece of Mikey's mom's favorite replica of the statue of David.

I'd like to send a shout out to Joe Game, aka: Chogrin, for curating such amazing group shows that I am very proud to be a part of! Thanks Joe!

I'd also like to point y'all in the direction of my girlfriend Ava Alamshah's new blog: Your Friend, Ava. It's pretty awesome & cute, and I helped her out w/ sprucing it up a bit, code/design wise. :)

It's our time down here,
Jeaux

Even More Cool Peeps!

Remember my new Sketchbook that some Cool Peeps drew in?

Well, here are some more quality Cool Peep sketches in my (now complete) sketchbook!

Ok, so Ray Harryhausen didn't sign this in my sketchbook. It's a doodle I did of him, when he visited Calarts a couple years back. I cut it out of another sketchbook and taped it in the newer sketchbook. Still pretty friggin' awesome if you ask me.

I love John Pham's work! He's a great guy and an even greater storyteller & artist. Very laid back. He drew this for me at a Chipotle in Burbank! Go buy John's book!

I met Joe Murray at a Lecture/Q&A he recently did at a local Barnes & Noble bookstore, promoting his very awesome book: Creating Animated Cartoons w/ Character! You should really pick it up if you are interested in creating and making your own cartoons! Highly recommended!

Guillermo Del Toro! Holy cow! I met him at a sneak peek for the dreamworks film MegaMind in a theatre in Long Beach. I'm sure I made a fool of myself, but he was very welcoming and even took the time to introduce me to his family. I asked if he would doodle on the back of some ticket voucher thing and he loved the drawing utensil my girlfriend had with her! I hope I run into him again someday!

Here's a fun pic collab from myself, my girlfriend Ava, and our pals Amber and Daniel! Can you guess who drew what?

I can't believe my sketchbook is finished! It is so very valuable to me now, as these drawings can truly attest to.

I should probably begin posting more of my own stuff around here too, eh?
