Here are a few bonus marker sketch studies I did recently for the film, Lady in the Water. I'm probably gonna get some flack, but I really dig this M. Night Shyamalan film. Plus I wanted an excuse to draw Paul Giamatti. It's a pretty epic, yet small, film. -Jeaux
Watched All About Eve w/ Ava a couple of weeks ago. It was a great film. Bette Davis sure is pretty. Here are a couple marker sketch studies I did whilst watching. Sure felt good to use real paper and markers, beats digital any day. -Jx

Coming to festivals 2012!
Here's a funny still from my cameo in the film. I look like I'm farting, and I make the best faces EVER! On the right is the HILARIOUS Allan Mcleod! It was hard keeping a straight face during his lines!
Outside Fake Gallery before shooting my cameo scene! @ Fake Gallery, Los Angeles. The scene takes place at an "art opening" for Allan's character, "Arnold". Love that they found a location called "FAKE" for that.
It's an honor that Whit consulted w/ me and loosely based his character Oliver off of me and my cartoon pitching experiences, down to using my art & designs, and even the name Brainfarts for Oliver's "animation company"! (I'm planning on coming out w/ a collection of my comics called "Jeaux Janovsky's Brain Farts"!) Met lots of great people on that shoot, and was happy they let me be a small part of it. According to Dreamworld director Ryan Darst:
"Thanks for coming out on Wednesday. Your scene is already the stuff of legend."
Recently, I had the pleasure of doing some freelance for my pal Daniel Levitch's film company, Well-Oiled Machine and their property: the Swine trilogy. Daniel thought I'd be a good fit for creating the illustrations for the DVD covers to each trilogy installment, I think he was right! Daniel & I both love the B/W work of Tim Bradstreet, and used his style as an inspirational springboard for the design sensibility of the cover illos. My process was easily complicated.
Daniel gave me a few pics to use of his actors.
Once I found my choices, I brought the pics into photoshop and manipulated them into something that sort of resembled a B/W photocopy machine look.
I toyed around w/ laying out and arranging the pics and shared the mockups w/ Daniel.
Once Daniel okayed the mockups, I printed out the B/W characters on separate pages and prepared them for the hand drawn inking process.
I taped the images to my lightbox and went to work w/ my sharpies and ink pens.
I rescanned the inked characters and brought them back into photoshop and placed them in their proper areas, the same areas as when I layed them out for mockups.
I sent Daniel & his friend Koren the PSD files and they created the final DVD covers.
I haven't had a chance to check out the final look, but I'm sure they did an awesome job. Pretty excited because Daniel & the rest of Well-Oiled Machine will be debuting Swine at Comic-Con this year!

Thanks for letting me be a part of Swine, Daniel! I'm sure it'll kick loads of ass, bud.
I'll also post it here, cause Joe is just so darn nice for posting about lil yours truly!
I'm finishing up on a bit of freelance back to back. Wish I could show off a few glimpses of sneak peeks from the projects, but I'd better keep em under wraps for the moment. I'm sure you'll be hearing about them, soon as I get word I can spread some images and info around. I recently had a great time on my birthday, Mar.17th-18th, spending it at Disneyland and staying at the D-Land hotel w/ my gf, Ava.
Outside Fake Gallery, a location for Dreamworld
The day before my b-day, I spent it by acting in a small scene in my pal Whit's feature film, Dreamworld. IMDB page here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1853548/ Met lots of great people on that shoot, and was happy they let me be a small part of it. Whit sorta based his character off of me, so you'll be seeing a bunchofmystuffinit! According to Dreamworld director Ryan Darst:
"Thanks for coming out on Wednesday. Your scene is already the stuff of legend."
